Whoa Locke and Religion!

Okay, I'm so befuddled that I'm not even sure where to start and when I do, I'm sure it'll make no sense at all.
Religion... Blowing up the island... Leaving the island... SHEESH!

First of all, how can detonating the bomb be a good thing?
I think they've all built lives together and this will erase everything they've known. Jack doesn't even act like he's thinking about a single feeling for Kate. They will have never met if their plane didn't/doesn't crash. Kate realizes this and wants to go running back to Sawyer. I like Kate, but it's too late girlfriend and plus, that's not fair to Sawyer, being second. I like Kate and Jack together and I like Juliette and Sawyer together. LET IT BE!
Besides the love cirlce, detonating the bomb is just A DUMB IDEA!!!

Kate wants to stop Jack from detonating the bomb, but what good does it do if she gets on the sub, no good.

Okay, I think there is a whole religious correlation going on here.
There were three or four things that made me think this while I was watching and now that I've waited until Friday to post, I can't remember what they all were. I've been thinking for a while that there were Egyptian ties to the whole thing, beliefs / religion. But now I started to see some resemblence to the modern Christian beliefs.

The whole back from the dead thing with John and leading them. Is Ben portraying a character similar to Judas? Or maybe Ben is just simply that conniving...?

And Jacob... we've been led to believe that the island chose John to become the leader of the Others. Is Jacob the Island or the Island Jacob? John is questioning if Jacob even exists, if he does, did Jacob nominate John for the leadership? And in saying that the island wanted him as leader, does that mean Jacob wanted him to be?

Lord, I'm confused! Okay, so now John sets off to kill Jacob or at least he tells Ben that's what his plans are. I'm trying to decide if he told Ben that as some kind of ploy or if he knows Ben will tell everyone for his advantage.

Sucks cause I thought Ben was kind of born again when the smoke monster let him live and his life flashed before him, but he seems to back to his old nasty ways. And to think that for a second I actually considered liking him or giving him a chance.

Ben said to think of Richard Alpert as kind of an advisor that's had the job for a very long time. Well, I got the feeling that Alpert was thinking that they may need to get rid of John when John demanded that the whole group go visit Jacob. Is Jacob imaginary and John wants to prove that he doesn't exist so they can stop fooling with the idea of him? And John said the island told him the exact time to show up where he would be wounded near the plane. Is he just pulling someone's leg or is he actually being spoken to by the island/God? And is he mistaken and his messages are actually coming from Jacob / Island / God?

Or maybe this is another process that the island demands and when the island appoints a new leader, John, the newly appointed leader then kills off the former leader, which is Jacob. We were led to believe that John was simply replacing Ben, but I'm not really sure Ben was ever what the island intended or he was just a sub-leader. But maybe John is now going to replace Jacob...?

It does in fact seem that everyone on the island has eternal ties to the island in some form or fashion through the generations. I have a feeling that the characters we know, who's parents are showing up all over the island 30 yrs ago, also have grand-parents and great-grandparents that formerly inhabited the island.

AND... I still think Richard Alpert looks 100% Egyptian!

Okay, my brain is spent. Please share your thoughts and ideas. I crave more input on the subject!
